Vaccination passports in the EU : Towards a crossroads of ethics and digital privacy

Since March 2021, together with the acceleration of COVID-19 vaccine roll-outs, a debate has arisen-notably in the northern hemisphere countries- about the possibility of creating a mechanism to monitor andelectronically control vaccine inoculations and to allow certain economic activities to restart. These needshave been addressed through the development of applications and solutions that have an important impact onethical and fundamental rights balance. We ... believe that the European Union had to contemplate the best wayto guarantee the basic right of circulation, allowing an economic rebound, all while respecting dataprotection, ethical and privacy issues. We shall observe how this process might mark how the EU mightproceed in case of future conflicting rights.
